Gusta Hazelnut Cream

Nice hazelnut flavor, less sweet than expected. I liked it in oatmeal. My teenager wanted more chocolate, so I guess we are divided.

I want to try to explain why this is better than what you might already have: Nutella has a very specific flavor that most people recognize as 'hazelnut spread' flavor. It is mostly sugar and palm oil with cocoa and a small amount of hazelnut. This has actual hazelnut flavor. When you open the jar, you smell nuts, not chocolate-flavored sugar. The sweetness is there but it supports the flavor instead of replacing it. That is a small thing that turns out to be a big thing when you actually taste it. Fifth jar. Genuinely not going anywhere.

On toast. On a croissant. Out of the jar. It works every way.

Used it in croissants for a brunch and two people asked me what I put in them. Also ate it straight from the jar for three days. I regret nothing. Fourth jar incoming.

Bought it as a gift. Recipient texted me the next morning. Ordering one for myself.

I expected it to taste like fancy Nutella. It doesnt taste like Nutella at all. It tastes like hazelnuts with a little chocolate and a little sweetness. That sounds obvious but after years of the grocery store version, the real flavor is surprising. Ate it with a spoon for two nights straight. Ordered two jars.

Got this as part of a gift set and ate half the jar before I remembered I was supposed to save it. The hazelnut flavor is genuinely strong, not perfume-y or artificial. Smooth enough to spread cold. Not cloyingly sweet. Third jar and I feel no regret.

I need to explain my rating more carefully than a star count allows. I have three kids. They have been eating Nutella since they were old enough to have toast. I thought I knew what hazelnut spread was. I ordered this for myself, honestly, as a treat, not expecting to give it to the kids. Spread it on a piece of sourdough the morning it arrived. The flavor is completely different from what I expected based on every other hazelnut spread I have tried. It tastes like hazelnuts. Actually hazelnuts. The sweetness is there but its balanced. The texture is smooth and spreadable straight from the fridge, which is not something the grocery store version can claim. I let one of my kids try it off my spoon. She looked at me and said 'is this the fancy one?' and then stood at the counter until I gave her a piece of toast with it. Now all three of them ask for it by name. My oldest puts it in her oatmeal. My youngest just eats it on bread as an after-school thing. We go through a jar every week and a half. I have used it in baking twice. Once swirled into brownies, once as a filling in a roll. Both times the hazelnut flavor came through clearly without being overpowering. I have also caught myself twice standing at the counter at 11pm eating it off a spoon. Subscribed. Would buy even without the discount. This is a permanent pantry item now.

I bake pastries at home and I have been looking for a hazelnut filling that doesnt just taste like sugar. This is it. Swirls cleanly, bakes well, and the flavor comes through on the other side of the oven. Also very good on toast, which is how I convinced myself to buy it in the first place. Reorder.

OK I have strong opinions about Nutella having grown up on it and I want to be clear: this is different and better in a specific way. More hazelnut. Less sweet. The texture is smoother than I expected. You actually taste the nut instead of just tasting sugar with a brown color. My kids prefer this now, which surprised me bc I thought they would want the sweeter version. Second jar. Will subscribe.

bought this on a whim bc it was in my cart with some pasta. best impulse purchase of the year. the texture is genuinely smooth in a way where you can spread it on cold toast and it doesnt rip the bread. the flavor is all hazelnut, not all sugar. i made a hazelnut swirl in some brownies and it was a different experience. i then ate the rest of the jar on a spoon over two evenings and felt appropriately guilty and ordered another one. three stars for my self control, five stars for the product.
